Custom Roof/windscreen

Anyone know anyone in the south east that can help with making a full weather kit for my rush. Softbits are unable to help.

Taylor's of Burwell near Newmarket close enough?

907 - 22/7/16 at 10:57 PM

I'm looking for a shower cover, possibly a tonneau.

I phoned Ian at Taylor's and he said possibly after Christmas.

Thomset's in Fen Rd Cambridge are also very good but tend to get very busy. Trouble these days are car upholstery/trimmers are pretty rare and tend to book up well in advance . I'd have thought a man of your talents would have been a dab hand with a sewing machine Paul?

A chap at Milton Keynes quoted £1000 + vat.
I've also had a quote for £800 ish + vat

I'm seriously considering buying a sewing machine and taking evening classes.

I did sew a button on once. Couldn't get it through the button hole though.

I think Taylor's charged £400 for my roof about 8 years ago ?

You could try Shetland Boats at Gt Pakenham.
They were very helpful when I did my Tiger roof.

David Jenkins - 23/7/16 at 08:48 AM

I was going to suggest boat outfitters - most boat covers are made-to-measure, use long-lasting material and have zips and poppers. A well-made speedboat cover is not very different from a car tonneau.

Will these people make up a windscreen and doors as well as i have nothing for the car?

Any contact details.

Cambridge is fine so is kent, willing to travel.

Have you tried oxtead trimmings / thundersport ?

They're the caterham boys. I'm sure they will make a custom roof for you - just drop the car off and collect when all done.... (i reckon it's going to be expensive though)

After trying companies miles away the wife spotted an ad in the local paper.

Turns out he's 3 miles away. Result.

I will report back with pics when it's done.

This was a Stoneleigh a couple of years back.
Seem to recall reading here/Pistonheads? that the entire roof project was for sale.

Yep, The guy is based in Spalding Lins and I've seen it around a few times but never to speak to, not sure if he is still offering to make for others though.

Found the thread I posted about it

cheers tims i have sent an email to see what the position is with him.

if anyone else has info of a firm that could make a full weatherpack i would be very appreciative.

Jeano - 11/8/16 at 08:22 AM

Hardtop guy says hes not making them right now as hes waiting for them to gather interest.

Softbits cant help with a custom roof at current.

Think you'regoing to struggle to find a company that will make/fit the screen, doors and hood frame that'll also do the actual hood.
