Ali Body
907 - 1/5/05 at 09:38 PM

Often, when I go to a show, one thing sticks in my mind more than any other.

Stoneleigh today was no exception.

For me it was the Ali body on this car, in particular, the nosecone.

A picture paints a thousand words.

lukefab - 1/5/05 at 10:30 PM

Yes Paul.
Nice car , very nice car.
Must take some polishing.

NigeEss - 1/5/05 at 10:49 PM

I was admiring this car today as well. What a work of art. I used to
work with a guy who worked wonders with ali, but this fella is quite simply a genius !

I should have got his name/etc to congratulate him in person, but alas, I didn't.

If you're out there Mr Ali, CONGRATULATIONS.....

splitrivet - 1/5/05 at 11:53 PM

It was flaming beautiful, the nose cone was made in 4 sections GAS WELDED.
Its what the guy does for a living tho.
Dont you just hate him.
Cheers,
Bob

Crikey - most impressed... amazing

Rorty - 2/5/05 at 03:11 AM

I don't doubt the ability of some to produce such panels from AL (I worked with an old bloke in Somerset who could do all that and more), but this is an obvious shortcut here.

paulf - 2/5/05 at 09:00 AM

I was speaking to the chap that built it , and told him about this web site. I suggested he has a look in here and posts some pictures,as it was a real special job.
He hadnt heard of this site but hopefully he will look in , maybe we should have had some flyers to hand out? worth remebering at future shows , we could all print a few and leave with cars.
Paul.

Nice piece of work. The early Seven is good too. While on the subject, how do you like this little car...?

Hunt down pics of Buckler DD2 as they were main rivals to Lotus in the early days....and all ali body work.

Actually, I was thinking of plasticine covered in aluminium sticky tape.

I thought the idea was to have a car that made an impression on people, not the other way round

Still, I suppose plasticine would be handy if anyone ever reversed into the Sutol and drove off. You'd have a perfect imprint of the culprits car.

fastenuff - 27/7/05 at 12:38 PM

just for the interested GJM this is an older link, but have a look anyway.
