My MNR V+, ideas?
Krismc - 18/12/09 at 09:01 PM

As you know my car failed sva, im now struggling for money due to the current climate and not sure what too do.

bought car back in 2006, its failed sva for emmission, i want to either sell it for spares, sell it as a whole or want someone to take it off me and finish it for a fixed cost as its 99.9% complete it only failed sva on emmissions but i havent got the time to do it my self and i no longer trust anyone in the north east as ive been ripped off too much.

i really do want to keep it, but i cant even face opening the garage its been shut in there for over 2 months now.

Any sensible ideas?

Miks15 - 18/12/09 at 09:08 PM

if its only emmisions it seems stupid not to finish it off?

How close was it on emissions?

Im sure plenty of people on here can help get your emissions down

speedyxjs - 18/12/09 at 09:16 PM

Emmisions doesnt have to be an expensive job to fix.

maximill666 - 18/12/09 at 09:19 PM

Will you now need to pay full IVA cost, seeing as you have missed the SVA cut off date?

marcjagman - 18/12/09 at 09:33 PM

Can't you just put a cat on near to the manifold? even if it already has one.

Danozeman - 19/12/09 at 09:03 AM

There must be one of us near you that will do it for a small fee.

Wheres nsdev or mr henderson?

coozer - 19/12/09 at 10:33 AM

I would love to help you Kris, but as you know I have too many things in the garage, no money/job and I've sold my trailer....

So, may I suggest you book the IVA, and take it up to see what happens. Your car is 100% after all.

If it fails on emissions again, which it shouldn't?? would you not like to talk to MNR and ask them to turn it round?

Or, how about just giving it to MNR and asking them to get it through? Probably would be easier than struggling with Newcastle Vosa??

I really feel for you and hope you don't loose heart too much.

GeoffMM - 19/12/09 at 02:00 PM

What is the spec of the car etc?

Lots of people say they can but every one who has tried has failed, then its been too 2 garages who couldnt either.

as you know steve my current job makes it near impossible for me too take a day off especially too do a iva and then theres no trailer and no tow car!

My car is a vortx RT PLUS 2.0 zetec, camed, GXSR thottle boddies, raceleda uprights callipers, megasquirt, cat and a LC1 lamda sensor etc etc. no expense spared when i bought every thing, not now though. cant afford a bean.

I just cant get it there or arrange to get it there, would love too though.

Kris, if this is something MNR can sort for you, there must be someone
on here who could help get the car there. I would gladly trailer it
there if you were just a little bit closer.

Any takers ??

http://www.shiply.com

Put details of where you want the car moved from/to and you will get companies bidding for your business, will be well under £100 to ship to MNR IMHO if they can help.

Krismc - 22/12/09 at 08:41 PM

thing is i have to arrange with MNR first if they will take it, i need some spare time one day to ring and arrange with them, difficult when i work away,

It's a bit further than I thought, but £115 so far...

Might get some better bids after Xmas, as very few will look at it at the moment.

Krismc - 26/12/09 at 10:05 AM

coozer - 25/1/10 at 10:44 PM

Right then Kris, sorry I've sold the trailer but I still have the tow car. If you can find/borrow/rent a trailer I'll drag it down to MNR for you.

Krismc - 26/1/10 at 06:53 PM

Right arranged the MNR to go in any time week starting 8th. just need a trailer or someone too take it.

Krismc - 26/1/10 at 07:09 PM

http://www.shiply.com/transport/2010-Mnr-(lotus-7-Rep)-Vortx-Rt-+/112098/

I got a bid of £85 to take it but the listing ran out and i didnt get any contact details, hope they bid again

franky - 26/1/10 at 10:54 PM

its worth paying the £5 to have a 'featured' listing.

Costing me £90 all in to have a M3 taken from Reading to Lincoln.

GeorgeM - 26/1/10 at 11:35 PM

just make sure you are covered by insurance.
Trailers with cars on 'disappear' while drivers
are having their lunch

Krismc - 28/1/10 at 08:34 PM

It might Dissapear. . . . thats a good idea!

...only kidding.

Krismc - 14/2/10 at 09:43 AM

Car is at now at MNR

They have found the problem straight away - to cut a long story short basically seems the gxsr throttle boddies and the way ive mounted them on my car makes the injectors fire at the pipes rather than in directly into the head and this is causing pooling of fuel (just a little bit) but this is stop emmisions being good enough, instead of messing about they recon the simplist solution is too change to R1 throttle boddies as they will fit on my setup without having to modify anything major.

Watch this space.

oh and a nice set off GXSR 750 throttle boddies now for sale in for sale section- if they any good too anyone

richardh - 14/2/10 at 07:21 PM

fab
lets hope for better result on next test

Krismc - 15/2/10 at 09:19 PM

IVA is getting done by chris@ MNR then i know it wont go until its 100% as he has got a good first time pass rate.

GeorgeM - 15/2/10 at 10:13 PM

make sure you get to Stoneleigh

I want to see your car on the road !!

GeorgeM

Krismc - 16/2/10 at 07:06 PM

MNR cant find a inlet gasket too fit my 2000cc black top zetec? Can anyone help? they have tried around 8 and they dont fit - engine is from a mondeo.

coozer - 16/2/10 at 07:12 PM

The plastic inlet manifolds dont have gaskets, just rubber sealing bits.

Ask for Ford Escort 1.8 1994, thats what my first engine was and had a gasket

Gasket paper? Make one....

Krismc - 16/2/10 at 07:18 PM

Hmm, i would make one but i aint there, they want the right one. ill try that one but has the black top got different mounting points on inlet?
