Ford indicator relay

My indicator setup uses both bulb and led style lights. So my standard sierra flasher unit goes into high rate mode when indicating. The hazards work fine.

Since this fast flash is a "feature" is it possible to disable it?
I see inside there are three different relays. Is it just a matter or removing one of these?


Failing that what is the easiest/cheapest electronic one?

2 pin or 3 pin?

Either way you can get LED flasher relays - £15 ish on fleabay.

Down side is you loose the fast flash when a bulb fails.

3 pin. Can the led one provide the wattage for bulbs aswell as leds?

Problem is that the relay needs to see a certain load to be able to flash in the proper manner, 2 20 watt bulbs is fine but no w you have replaced 1 21w bulb with a fi 2watt led, Becuase the load went down the relay flashes to fast.

Put a big low vallue resistor to act as load in pararlel to the led line and you be fine.

What sort of resister is suitable? All the ones ive seen aren't much cheaper than the electronic relay (which i presume is the correct way to fix it)

If you use a standard flasher with resistors you loose the power saving function.

If you break down hazards will last a lot longer with leds and a proper led fixed rate flasher.

some claim to work for up to 20A, and VERY cheap. May not be a good thing, but no great loss either.
