I've bought some shielded 2 core cable for the crank sensor (in fact I bought some last week, forgetting I'd already bought some years ago)

Is it really needed though? Its 2 ordinary 1mm wires that come from the edis, and I got a sensor with a short piece wiring, same colour and type of wires.
Is the shield really of any benefit? Ford didnt seem to use it.
Anyone done both and noticed any benefits of shielding?

Bonus question, does anyone know the type of connector used on the zx9r tps? Its sort of triangular with 3 pins, I thought it was a deutsch dt, but its a bit smaller.

And what type of connector is this?

I used Normal wire on a zetec silver top and at 2000 rpm it coughed, put in some shielded microphone wire, instant cure. The original non shielded wire wss acting as an aerial at that frequency I think and picking up interference. So, I would fit it.

If you car is suppressed as much as a modern Ford I would think I shielded is ok
However it is unlikely to be therefore fitting shielded wire is a prudent move or you may have issues later down the road that are difficult to find

I needed shielded to get it working properly.

Not wanting to teach folks stuff they already know, but just to add info....:
Only ground/earth one end of the sheild. Insulate the other end. That way, you can't get a current passing along it.

^^ as above - yes you need the shielded cable (earthed at one end only - preferably the EDIS end)



and I'd like to know what the ZX9R TPS plug is too !
otherwise I'll end up cutting mine off and replacing it with a normal plug...

I've had no luck finding a zx6r plug either if its the same.

You need a zx9 TPS plug? shoot me a PM, I've just cut all the connectors off my loom..

Definitely needed. I'm running double screened and shielded 2 core for mine and I still get noise glitches (which just smashed a piston to death and is costing me a grand to rebuild) at times, despite having closed all possible openings apart from at the ECU itself. It's no fun chasing noise, so minimise the risks!
