Mounting Radiator Fan

Hi all,
I've put one of the VW302 Polo radiators into my build, and have just had the radiator fan delivered.
There was a "fixing kit" in it, but I can't quite figure out how it should attach on to the radiator. Running the two supplied "ties" through the radiator itself doesn't seem right, and I was wondering if something like this would be a better way to go?

Or, I'd also thought about going down to the local scrapyard and trying to get a radiator surround out of a scrapper!

If you have got room for a surround there is no reason not to use one.

The mounts that push through the rad work fine from my experience, I've got my Spal fan mounted with them, although it's using four not two

The STD VW fans and cowls are very good, so if space a good idea.
The vw rads have lugs to accept short screws or M6 setscrews, so plan b is to make flat brackets to use those pickup points.

And that's just what I've done with some ABS sheet I had lying around - thanks for the suggestion :-)
