Vauxhall Agila Power Steering

As an alternative to the usual Corsa C power steering modification Ive embarked on the alternative Agila conversion instead.

Im trying to avoid using the usual ebay special control box, and planning to feed signals into the controller via an Arduino.

The control box will click a couple of times when applying switched live but cant seem to get it to 'activate' when applying a 5v square wave to the engine and vehicle speed sensor.

I'm looking for more information if available? Anyone?

Been running an agila set up on my car for a couple of years , just took the feed from the speedo that’s driven off a 2 wire ford crank sensor and fed that into the epas Ecu , and the rpm out from the Ecu . There are new controllers out that look at the torque sensor input to give assistance , I’ve got one to try on my other car with the older b type epas on . The agila doesn’t need the pulse squared off to read it but you need to have an idea on the ppm rate to get it right .

It looks like a 0-12v square wave speed signal, and appears to require 4000 pules per mile.

For the engine speed did you just T the feed from the ecu to tacho? I guess this is the same as the Corsa one that the epas just needs to know the engine is running, its not interested in the actual speed?

I'll have to look as a speed sensor, as my car's speedo is driven off of a prop driven/hall effect sensor. I was hoping to use the arduino to output two options that allowed me to manually switch between low assistance (normal driving) and extra assistance (low speed). A little like the old fiat parking button.

I’m going to try the new controller on my agila set up tonight , When I set the speedo up I was getting around 3800 ppm using the 5 bolts on the diff output shaft but it sometimes feels like it could use a bit more assist for parking as i have a quick rack and 205,s on the front with quite a bit of caster . The new type is resin filled inside the box so can’t see what it’s made of but if it works it’s probably the easiest solution .
