RX 8 - cambelt?
Simon - 5/9/11 at 05:37 PM

Chaps,

A friend is selling his RX8 and has been asked if cambelt has been changed (less than 20k miles!!). Now that I've thought about it, I have no idea if it actually has one, but said I'd come on here and ask if it has because plenty of people would know

Cheers

It doesn't have one, it's a rotary engine.

I bet it breaks a few valves without a cambelt!

Sounds like the person buying the car knows nothing about the engine as rotary engines dont have cambelts (or valves), the person buying the car should be more concerned(sp) on the oil changes and oil level

Always loved wankels (please read that carefully)
I could watch this all day:

Was about 99% sure it didn't have one, but thought I'd better check

on every rotary i've sold and there's been a fair few someone's emailed me asking for the history on cambelt and head gasket,
none have ever bought the car, some people really do have too much time on there hands.

No it doesn't have a cambelt but I hope for his sake that the Geflunkel unit has been cleaned out before 20k miles..
