the passanger side window on my 04 leon has dropped and shows no sign of coming back up.
I've got 120 miles to do tomorrow with my daughter in the back
I'm guessing its the plastic window clips that have gone and I wont be able to get some for a few days.
Has anyone got any ideas on how to get the window up and hold it there for the drive home. or has anyone had success filling the whole with something,
I don't fancy carboard as you need to see out the window for right turns and using hte mirror.
I'm at the GFs so no real tools in sight!

hi mike can you not fish the window up and then put tank tape on it as its very strong rap it round the door frame
On a work mates, he fished it up and wedged it up with card. The winder cables had rotted away.
If the glass is free to move you may be able to get a piece of gaffa tape down the side of the glass a little way, press it on to the glass with something thin then ease the glass up a bit, If you do get it to move stick a bigger bit of tape on as soon as you can and pull the glass up. Hold it up with some tape down the glass over the top of the door & back down the glass. Wont work if the glass is wet or frosty though.
Both my window regulators went within days of one another. There little plastic clips that grip the window. Either this has snapped or the
you've tried to put the window down in the ice and the motor pull the clips off the window when it was frozen in place. This is what I did I
think.
Go to ebay or a SEAT dealer and ask for a replacement kit. There quite costly, I think £40 quid maybe. The VW specialist near me wanted £200 quid
per window. Go to I think markIV.net (something like that, its a VW golf mark 4 forum) and download their how to guide. There may be a SEAT specific
version that you could search for.
It took me 2.5hours to do the first one and 45 minutes for the second. It's a fiddly rubbish job that involves taking lots of seemingly poor
thought out trim panels.
For you window. My windows didn't fall all the way into the door. I could grab the tips and pull them back into place. They did however fall
straight down again. So I just used lots and lots of duck tape to hold them off. Look crap for about 3 weeks but a locost solution.
All this assumes you SEAT is the same as my GOLF.....mine is a mark 4 GT TDI 150.
Like other vag cars the cables will probably have skipped around the roller inside and jammed.
You need to get the doorcard off, then there's the metal skin that incorporates the regulator. You need to unbolt this but as the window is
jammed down you may need to drill the rivets holding the guides as you won't get access to the window clips with it down.
Once you've pulled it all clear of the door, get 3 lengths of batten and knock up a quick frame to wedge the window up against the bottom of the
door.
The parts to repair the regulator are about £18 on eBay.

Oh - by the way - what normally does this to VWs is slamming the door with the window wound down... there are no supports for the glass when
down...

I used some cling film but decided it wouldn't last a two hour trip in hte rain down the m1 so forked out for a sheet of plastic from B&Q cut
it to shap and duck taped it on, worked a treat, you couldn't really tell from inside the car!
I now have the job of actually fixiing it now I'm home with my tools. Looks like a right PITA.

its not too bad, i did my seat leon window regulator, you will need a multi spline bit to remove the door lock and i think i did one side in about 5-6 hours on my own, was not in a rush
My definition of not to bad is 30mins to 1hr max (on the tin top)
Any more than that and its counts as a major PITA!
5-6 hours sounds pretty painful to me but thats because I hate working on my tin top, the bloody things are just meant to work
I'm sure I'll enjoy it really!
Does the door mech need to come off to get to the winder mechanism 
have a read through this link this was the link i used when i did mine
and it should explane everything
th bit that took the time was removing the old seal from the door card and replacing it as mine had failed and let water into the car when it rained
