MK1 Escort Stolen DKT 206K Kent
Neb - 30/9/14 at 11:28 AM

Some **** has nicked Paul & Mick Hand's Mk1 Escort Rally Car last night from Mick's workshop in Rainham, Kent.

It's Orange, is non arched, fibreglass front wings with mexico arches. Turreted caged etc.
Has a Pinto on twin 45's (will have Connaught Badge on Rocker Cover)
Trans X Type 9 Straight Cut Gearbox
Atlas Axle with LSD, Sierra rear calipers
Brand new Sparco Seats
New Belts
Ally tank

Will try and get a few more details but obviously both are well pissed off.
Car was up on stands with no wheels on it, battery switch out of it i.e. not in a nickable state so they knew what they were after and came prepared.

Any details whatsoever, please get in contact

holy crap.

If people know what they are doing, why steal such a prized posession.

Classic cars seem to be stolen left right and centre at the moment. Just a couple of months ago 2 MGBs were stolen in folkstone, and a midget in hythe which was garaged. Then last month another MGB and a mini were taken from just outside Maidstone towards ashford. Even with a car on axle stands doesn't seem to deter these thieving b*stards. Ive posted elsewhere about the escort, can only hope it gets found before its broken up.

They are scum.

Thanks for putting up elsewhere.

Ours is a Mk2. Hopefully this photo will work.

It has a brand new Brise Starter motor, which i will try and get the serial number for. The Atlas is Gartrac built with a 4.6 CWP and ZF plated diff.

These are the sorts of bits that will catch them.

What you don't want to hear, is that if its not an opportunistic theft (obviously not) then the car is probably broken for spares by now.

I sincerely hope I'm wrong and you get the scum's names / addresses.

Pass the details around to as many shot blasters and body shell dippers as possible.

Anyone in his / your rally club, rally forum or parts suppliers, heard of a recent Escort accident with severe damage?

Interesting you say this. You've got me thinking. I won't say any more but will pass my thoughts on.

You are probably right about it being in bits by now.

The thieving scum brought there own wheels to move it.

So they knew what they wanted and how to get it....

So how did the thieves know it was without wheels?

The thieves have been in the garage previously and horrible to say but an 'acquaintance / friend' may have something to do with it.

I'm really sorry to hear this. My Escort was stolen a couple of years ago, so I know how you must be feeling. It makes me sick to see this happening so frequently at the moment.

Keep an eye on Ebay, but don't get your hopes up. I found the engine from mine on there a few months ago, in the same region that it was stolen from. Reported to the police who agreed that it was the same engine (still complete with carbs and exhaust) and there was reasonable proof of that. While the police decide who has title of it, it has been sold on via the same auction site despite my repeatedly bringing it to the attention of the police (4 different Ebay ads reported over 4 months). Don't think it'll surface again.

I see it's already on the stolen old Fords group on Facebook, or I'd have added it there for you. I hope you get some good news on this soon.
