Ride height
number-1 - 21/6/18 at 06:37 PM

Well....ive been in the sun too long today and decided that im right on a discussion me and a mate were having. If a car has 13 inch rims, and changes to 15 inch rims....the ride height will be raised???

My mate says no but i cant see how im wrong? Its based in using the same width and profile tyres.

If basic reasoning escapes your mate, an image might help.

Yeah but when do you ever use the same width / profile tyres in 13" and 15"? Just saying

Yeah as above

205/60 13 gives as near as damn bang on same rolling radius as a 195/50 15,so in that scenario the ride height would not be altered!

No, Not necessarily....
Tyre Rolling radius will determine if it goes up or down.
Low profile 15 may have smaller Rolling Radius than fat High profile 13"

Ahhhhh.....so...what size tyres would you use on 15 inch rims?

Depends on what you are trying to achieve.
I have 205/45 R17 Tyres and 17" Rims.
I bought them a long ago, I have changed my mind and would like to go to 15" rims with 205/70R15 Tyres to have more rubber for confort and peace of mind.
Havenīt done the latter due to nonexisting funds.
Hope this helps.

The original post stated same width and profile.

But yes, start messing with those and you can get close to identical rolling radiuses

99% use 195/50 15,or 205/50 15 if your going wider wheels
