Whilst replacing the FL caliper on the 5 Series i went to re-new the flexi only to find that the union on the steel pipe heading into it wouldn't undo to the extent it's twisting the pipe. That's despite spraying penetrating oil up into and around the join.
Car's only(!) 9 years old and corrosion free.
Any suggestions as to how I can release it short of knackering the steel pipe with grips and having to replace it?
Heat probably not an option...

spanner on the union and one on the flexi is all i can recomend....unless you can get some heat in there

I would try locking pliers in the steel pipe, tight enough so it doesn't twist, and not tight enough to crush it.
Steel pipes are pretty hard, so they are more unlikely to be crushed than copper ones.
An then a spanner on the union.

You don't rotate the steel pipe or it will shear off - you rotate the flexi pipe

Problem is the flexi has star shaped flanges which fit into the mounting bracket so nothing to purchase on there.
I just managed to avert disaster as the steel pipe was twisting as I applied force to the union.
I suppose locking pliers on the steel pipe could be the answer - the union will either undo or fook the pipe in which case I'll be replacing it anyway
Very reluctant to try flame heat, Conrod - though maybe use a big ass soldering iron?

i seem to remember the fixing you mention, is the flexi not held into it,s fixing with a clip ?
