Towing Eye for Track Days

Hi,
I have a J15 which I built to be my track day weapon but seven years later have yet to use it on track!

My problem is there's nowwhere to put a towing eye at the front and a friend who's a part time marshal reckons it wont be allowed on track without one.

I have seen comments by others that the roll bar will suffice but he reckons they dont like that because it can pitch the car forward into the gravel.

Have others here got away with just the roll bar? My preferred circuit would probably be Goodwood.

Hi Chris (again!)

I have been doing track days for over 10 years. Never had a comment regarding no front towing eye. I have also never been stuck in gravel . . .

My thoughts. If it was such a big deal, you would see more towing eyes on se7ens, most just mark up the rool cage or dont bother. Also, if you are nose first in gravel, they will want to tow you out backwards. Even if forwards is easier for them, they will still tow you out backwards if they need to.

To conclude, don't stress about it. Just get it out on track!!!!!

Thanks bi22le.

When you say 'mark up the roll cage' do you mean put a sticker on saying 'TOW'?

Basically, yes. I haven't though and many don't bother.

You will be with the car when they recover it so you can ask them to put it in a particular way or pull it out in a particular way.

My limited experience of TD marshals is very positive, they know cars are expensive to fix and are happy to take a little longer to prevent unnecessary damage.

Clarke of course when you ping the sound meter, they are ruthless b@stards!!
