Well started mine 20 years ago, sold it about 10 years ago half done, my mate is possibly selling his 1.3 Escort powered Locost ( possibly 1.6?)
Mint as new condition whats it worth?
It Modified Escort on log book
As ever I want a bargain but don't want to rip him off
The bits I don't like are no wet weather gear, roll bar or screen and its on 13" wheels
Apart from that I love it

In which case it'll need IVA test, (and the necessary preparation beforehand).

Why?
It was built well before IVA?

Contarey to what people will tell you, you may not need to IVA and re-reg it. The DVLA will still entertain changing the logbook details for cars that missed the amnesty period. We did it not long ago with a custom triumph based car (modified chassis before anyone asks!). The main thing they require is that the you can prove the vehicle as been on the road for number of years. we did this with tax and MOTs going back 15 years. If you have any period of "off the road" they will turn you away!

Well just done some digging I will have to check the documents before I part with any cash as it could be a mine field!
Thanks for the heads up.
Look like I have to prove it was on the road before SVA!
I have a feeling it was inspected by the DVLA?

If it's been on the road it should surely be registered, have a V5C, tax, MoT and insurance. If not you have to ask why and what's required to make it so.

Do you have any photos of the car you can share with us?

Not yet, he is thinking of selling, its been on the road I think before SVA but not certain, I have first dibs if he decides to sell, so just waiting really, if he does sell I now have more idea what to check for, assuming its all ok how much should I offer?

Very hard to say without seeing the vehicle really. Age, condition, legality etc all play a part in the value. Documentation of parts used helps as it makes it easier to replace parts if you know what they are or cam from.

I know, its mint, professionally built ( he's a very skilled engineer) I know most of the parts as I helped source most of them and was building my own at the time.
Cortina hubs, from memory Kitten shocks though would have to check.
Escort Axel, engine, prop, 4 speed gear box, rad
316 Stainless exhaust
Lotus nose cone, cycle wings and rear arches.
Polished alloy bonnet
2cv head lights.
Dolomite clocks.

Kept inside under a cover never been out in the rain
Just after a ball park figure assuming it can still be legally registered.
