Right I'm still on the look out for my first kit car and came across this on pistonheads. Can't find more info on it but does look interesting, can someone give me some more information on it like performance, handling, reverse gear, weight.
Or should I avoid these as there not that common.

I could be wrong (it does happen from time to time ), but I understand that the car in that advert is actually an MK Indy in Toniq-R's clothes!

PS - if you can find a bona-fide Toniq for £5.5k then snap it up!

It started with an 'M'... surely I get points for that!

It's neither good nor bad.

The Mac1 is a perfectly good seven-a-like car and £5.5k is a good price for one (whether in fancy Toniq-R clothes or not). It is however a completely different beast to a real Toniq-R... which would cost you at least another £10k on top!

Best to check out the Mac1 website and compare second-hand Mac1 prices.

This car was designed by students at Huddersfield Univercity, they worked with Stuart Taylor Motorsport and the underpinnings were either his seven chassis or the Phonix chassis that he was working with. Very stylish car, I think the design laterly was based around the Zetec engine.

I own one of toniq's original demonstrators with a blade engine and it has had a few niggles but ive never driven a car that atracts so much interest.my latest problem is the Diff carrier shearing in two.

The one in the advert was built up by a guy with the user name Toniq-r on here and has a couple of videos on Youtube and also i think he might of bought the panels of the some else who's on here .

Here's a picture of mine which has quite a few bit's on it from Andy Bates who has been a great help.

Dangle_kt - 3/9/12 at 10:04 PM

its a bit naughty, in the ad it links to the toniq-r review... which it isn't.

fluidslvr - 3/9/12 at 11:01 PM

misleading add..

car is a MAC 1 and use to look like this ..

Sierra - 3/9/12 at 11:03 PM

Wow this cars got some history.
Do you know anything about the current setup?
Did it have a reverse gear?

fluidslvr - 3/9/12 at 11:11 PM

no idea

its had 3 more owners since I had it

Toniq-r - 4/9/12 at 04:46 PM

Yes I was the last owner it was a great car , did not have any probs with the motor its even been to Knockhill a few times .No reverse dont need it just lean over and push your self.If I had a spare £5K I would buy it back Buy Buy Buy its a bargin .....

Sierra - 5/9/12 at 06:32 PM

It is tempting but I really want a reverse gear also I'd like to buy a car ready to drive and this needs an mot which is just going to be a hassle for me to arrange when buying
