What's it worth?
daveb666 - 21/7/14 at 10:47 AM

2.0 Silvertop Zetec 1994 Zetec (pre-CAT)
Rebuilt 2,000miles ago with bags of receipts
3kg race flywheel
Brand new clutch and pressure plate
Modified Westfield release bearing
MT75 gearbox
GSXR-TBs
ST170 inlet manifold and fuel rail
Piper X dome filter
Brand new alternator
Brand new starter motor
Scholar race engines modified and baffled sump
Fisher Exhaust Manifold and Exhaust Can (sub 96db)
MBE ECU and Loom (complete with wiring diagram)
Launch control
Produces 168bhp/145lb ft

Literally 6 wires to put in and away you go.

Goes very very well as you would expect.

Can also include the engine and gearbox mounts

By the time it's ready for sale it will also have fitted a brand new blacktop head and race cams so will be producing more power than noted above.

Just curious as to what it is worth as a complete 'bolt in' package to someone? Thanks

When yo figure it out - let me know, I am after an engine package - cash waiting.

Now that sounds like a great hasstle free package for someone! At the right price that should sell very quickly

daveb666 - 21/7/14 at 07:41 PM

Can anyone give me an idea of price then?

kingster996 - 21/7/14 at 07:54 PM

Well, if you want to sell it, I'd consider buying it - but that all depends on how much you want for it.

As a potential buyer, I am not the right person to ask what it's worth ;-)

I guess the whole concept of what an engine is 'worth' is always down to what it sells for.

On another forum recently, I was offered a Puma Race engine with head work and cams, full ITBs and ECU, bell housing etc 'ready to go' with 169bhp for £1885 - which is way less than what it would ever cost to build such a light package. Pity he changed his mind, as I would still buy that one.

Another one - a 218bhp Duratec built from a crate engine (£1600 new??), 9k miles on it, Alpha ITBs and ECU etc (£1600 new), £1500 head work, £1300 worth of mapping and tuning, s/s manifold, raceline sump, light f-wheel etc etc - so it must be 'worth' £5k or more surely? Sold last week for £2850 and I just missed out (just as well mind as I couldn't really afford it!).

It will always cost a lot more to build a decent motor that it will ever be worth when you want to sell it on - learned this personally many times with tuned bike engines, but will never stop me though

I would say 1750 - 2k but judging by the lack of replies just shows how hard something like that is to value, as stuff is secondhand in usually half it's new value and the silver top is an older engine which is what I based my valuation on.

I know it's probably cost you loads more than that but hey you asked for a value

Cheers

Rich

Might be worth keeping an eye on this to see what it goes for -

C20XE redtop escort mk1 mk2 rwd engine package tran x gearbox lsd axle

Not offended by any thoughts, just curious really. It's all the little bits that end up adding to the total cost to me, but that, as noted on more than one occasion, is not the same as what it is worth.

I won't be selling till I've taken delivery of my new engine anyway as it'd be a shame to have the car off the road while the good weather is here but it definitely will be for sale shortly.

Thanks for the feedback

What are you after then Dave?

daveb666 - 22/7/14 at 03:22 PM

I'll be fitting an SR20DET; getting beat by the F-Type last week really upset me
