becuase Cyanide smells of peardrops doesnt it? And modern 2 pack has some cyanide derivatives in it as well, sure your mask is up to the job?

2 pack?

Mask?

Halfords rattle can and wind outside all the way. Probably not the healthiest thing in the world, but the booze will kill me before the fumes.

is there some kind of esters in there? if i remember anything from higher chemistry (which i don't) esters smell of pear drops

Staple balls - 23/5/09 at 03:49 PM

That sounds about right.

So why the hell do pear drops smell like spraypaint?

blakep82 - 23/5/09 at 04:04 PM

pear drops are made of cyanide

SeaBass - 23/5/09 at 04:14 PM

Similar chemistry...

Was going to say acetate smells of pear drops. Which is why nail varnish remover does too.

Not that I've ever had to remove nail varnish...

If you breathe in hard when your sucking a good strong proper pear drop it gives you the same affect aswell!

Lovely smell. I have been spray painting my rover cover this morning and sniffing.

Nope! Cyanide smells of almonds, because almonds contain traces of cyanide.

Richard Quinn - 23/5/09 at 06:00 PM

And you can tell it's cyanide rather than almonds as your heart will start to race! I used to work in a lab that used cyanide solutions.

It's the solvent Amyl Acetate that gives that pear drops aroma.
