If M6 then take the M5/M42/M40/A40. I'd adivse looking at a map before you start your car unlike above.

daniel mason - 15/9/09 at 07:26 PM

i will be coming down M6 mate,on to M40 but after that am un sure on the best way to upton park

Jon Ison - 15/9/09 at 07:27 PM

ooooooooo errrrrrrrr note the
lost on yer I guess ?

Bluemoon - 15/9/09 at 07:27 PM

Upton town is 1hr 22min from hillingdon station... Only one change mind..

May not be the best way? But the M40 is a good way into london..

Looks like you want to end up on the M11 at least that the correct side of london, shame the road is pants...

just tried that route bluemoon but on saturday there is engineering work on the line so its tube then bus. and would not want to go on a bus full of southern footy fans on my own

Bluemoon - 15/9/09 at 07:41 PM

Have a play with the transport for London web site. The difficult bit is finding some were to park..

This map might help:

Will prob get shot down but from Cumbria its got to be M6, M1 for West Ham, or maybe straight under M1 at end of M6 onto A14 then A1 or continue onto M11 ?

M40's wrong side and means a trek through town, thats without looking at a map btw

Bluemoon - 15/9/09 at 08:00 PM

^^

I think I'd agree thing is it looks nasty to get to west ham by train; not sure what the best way is; some one needs to suggest a station with cheap parking...

hillingdon station car park if you never want to see your car again
or a little down the A 40 to northolt station, plenty free parking on the side roads there.

Bluemoon - 15/9/09 at 08:16 PM

^^ I had wondered about that car park.. Probably to close to the pub

I think some one from North or east london needs to help out..

no tubes from that area to west ham i dont think. it may be best if i drive to east london and find secure football parking somewhere!

theconrodkid - 15/9/09 at 08:24 PM

take a train from northolt to mile end and change there to west ham....simples

daniel mason - 15/9/09 at 08:29 PM

I always park at Tottenham Hale and get the tube or train into London.

carpmart - 15/9/09 at 09:46 PM

You want to use M6, M1, A406 and park near the ground. Ignore suggestions of going into West London and tubing it, that is not the approach you want.

Another option is M6, M1, M25 clockwise then M11 to A406. These will both get you down near to the ground!

daniel mason - 15/9/09 at 10:07 PM

what about parking for the footy traffic

alfasudsprint - 16/9/09 at 07:49 AM

forget parking near the ground, that would be a nightmare. All you want is a tube station on the district line to take you straight to upton Park.
parking in west london is not such a bad idea, although 1.5 hours on a tube may not make sense- you could whizz round the M25/ A406 to Beckton in 45 minutes...

coozer - 16/9/09 at 08:29 AM

I would use the train... all the way.

daniel mason - 16/9/09 at 04:46 PM

there is no return trains from london to lancaster on saturday night. last one is 19:40

Rod Ends - 16/9/09 at 04:50 PM

car parking in Barking then 2 stops on the tube.

daniel mason - 16/9/09 at 05:00 PM

is it safe parking? eg; stewards

Rod Ends - 16/9/09 at 05:22 PM

just a multi-storey car park

daniel mason - 16/9/09 at 05:30 PM

thanks. my main concern is the volume of traffic on a matchday! the game wont end until after 19:30

Schrodinger - 16/9/09 at 08:39 PM

Don't forget the congestion charge if yougo too far into London
