I have just replaced my smoke alarms one up/one down with 10 year sealed units they were on offer in tesco,get em checked people!

I haver mains powered alarms in my home (1 up, 1 down).

However, mine have a 9v aux battery which does need replacing - thanks for the reminder

I find the best way to test them is to do a full fry up before anyone else gets up, it also tests if the family notice it going off too

Funnily enough I fitted two new ones yesterday. Being forced to watch Eastenders gave me a reminder!

Dont forget to put a very loud one in the garage as well,

as i had a garage fire in July 2010, and its not a pleasant experiance !!

Fit one in the kitchen as well so you know when the dinner is ready. No dear it's not a timer it's the smoke alarm, remember the recipe says when it's brown it's cooked and when it's black it's f**ked.
