OT - Slate suppliers in Yorkshire

Me and Swmbo are after a nice bit of rubbed slate for a hearth for our new fire surround. I've drawn a bit of a blank for suppliers though since we don't live near Wales or Cornwall.

Anyone know any stone merchants in the West/South Yorkshire area that deal in slate slabs? (We're in WF12) I'm going to Barnsley tomorrow morning to try a demolition place that appears to have pallets of split, sawn slate but I'd prefer polished/rubbed if we could get it.

Cheers
Tom

There is a place called Artisan in Huddersfield that specialise in posh fire places
they may be able to help.

Slate comes from China these days Google China Slate or floorsofstone.com. My uncle made his hearth from a snooker table slates.

Cheapest is from old snooker tables.
Lots on e-bay normally as long as you can collect.

There is one just outside Wetherby. If you come off the Motorway at the Wetherby Services and take the B1224 to York. Just after the Roundabout at the Wetherby Racecourse there is a stone yard there, we bought our hearth from them.
