Afternoon all.

We are about to buy a new house that has oil fired heating. The Worcester floor mounted combi needs replacing as does the old oil tank.

I can see with a quick google a new boiler would be about £2500 and new tank around £800 but does anyone have an idea what a plumber would charge labour to change them both?

No idea about the boiler but check on the tank as it may have to be moved if you are not careful. I had my tank "reconditioned" a couple of years ago as every supplier told me it had now to be 5m from the house an boundary. We had the steel tank "reconditioned" instead this was actually a new tank different size but the bill showed reconned. Plastic tanks evidently have the date they were made on them so they can be checked.

Just had a new boiler fitted. Total cost £3600, £400 labour, materials £2600 incl various new valves, new pipeline etc. + commissioning and flushing.
Old boiler removed from the kitchen and the new one installed outside, much quieter. Took 2 days.
Can't help with tanks.

Look into air source heat pumps.

We have 3 houses using consort electric panel heaters, these are totally diy and about £100 per heater, the r/c controller is the same price. Used these for over 10 years and only needed to change the AA batteries every couple of years, other than that they're completely maintenance free. Love them
