Watching a youtube video about ant killer as mine have started appearing early this year and some sugest using borax mixed with a sugary liquid like
honey.
i have tried all sorts over the years but they keep on coming back, anyone tried this method or suggest a really permanant fix, they are red as well as
black ones.
I need to try something as well... I've got thousands of the buggers popping up. In the lawn, down the path, up the steps, all along the fence. There has to be 15-20 nests. Yellow, Black and red.
Nippon in paste form, Comes in a red, white & Black tube
Put a little on some plastic sheet on their most popular route, they have a munch on it and take it back to the nest where it causes general chaos and
death
DON'T do what a mate did and pour petrol down into the ant nest and set fire to it, He nearly lost his conservatory
Alternatively let them be live and let live - don't normally cause any harm we have them. The wife used to put all sorts of powders everywhere now she just leaves them alone.
Black ants are easy to kill, any ant killer will sort them. I have never succeeded in getting rid of red ants though. The only thing I've had success with is boiling water poured straight from the kettle down the hole. Kills them but also the grass. On youtube Ive seen people pour liquid aluminium down them.
