Plastic fuel tank leak - Daytona 955i
Simon - 19/1/20 at 10:01 PM

The o/s side panel was held on by cable ties and thought it might be a nice idea to fix it properly. So, tried removing the bodge fix; turns out this is straight into petrol tank which started leaking.

Anyway, I'm in the process of emptying tank then will drill out bodge and make a metal helicoil that I will "glue" into place.

So, the question is - what glue?

Cheers

Years ago I used to use Araldite epoxy resin but I bet there are purpose adhesives out there now for the job

I also used Araldite, on a rusty Norton tank, but if I was to do it again, I would also after the araldite was cured
line the tank with a tank sealer, most good bike shop's sell the stuff

I think I’d be on the look out for a replacement tank. The original holes are probably blind, and in use the tank will flex slightly but probably enough to crack a repair.

Its your bike but I wouldn’t risk a leaky tank, if it does drip its onto a hot engine, and will no doubt soak into your trousers.
