V6 cosworth 24v 210bhp BOB to type 9 gearbox

Has any body done this confiq? Im hoping the type 9 will take the uprated torque.

If not... any recommendations what will fit straight on?

MT75 be any good?

you will need the V6 bell housing at least as the pattern is different to the 4 cylinder engines.

You need a V6 Type 9 this box has the longer input shaft that goes with the bellhousing.
If you use a standard box and a V6 bellhousing the input shaft will not sit in the spigot bearing

And another type 9 fact, it is rated at 155 ftlbs and 155 bhp, it will take more but you are on the limit, the mt75 may be a safer bet

Thought i had explained this before, but the 2.9 cosworth engine uses the Cologne V6 engine block, which is the same as the 2.8 capri and 12V V6 granada and sierra engine. The V6 bellhousing (the one i have) will fit straight on to the engine, but you will need the V6 type 9 transmission for the longer input shaft.

The block on the BOA is the same as the BOB, though the BOB puts out 205bhp as opposed to the 195 of the BOA.

with the Mt75 you will need to make a hybrid from a 4x4 v6 mt75 and one from a four pot. The diesel ultima having the better ratio's.

One already done fetches big money.

you can get an up rated version of the type 9, but they arn't cheap

and it's hard to find a 2wd V6 version of the MT75

but the 4x4 V6 ones and 2wd 4cly are common enough (XR4x4's etc. ) - you can strip down one of each and rebuild them as a 4cly 4x4 box (same as a cossie 4x4) and a 2wd V6 box - someone was doing this as a 5 speed upgrade for capri's

I Already have the v6 type 9 on the 2.8 cologne . and know it will go onto the cossy 24v. Just searching for on alternative gear box.

The trouble is im having at the moment... at WOT in 1st 2nd is fine nothing slipping. when im in 3rd or 4th and 5th im not sure weather the clutch is slipping or something wrong with the gear box it just dosn't want to rev. If the clutch slips it should just rev up, right? and would happen in all gears.

Not necessarily. Depends on the torque delivery at the rev range, but yes you would get a decelleration sensation, and climbing revs. Or of course, it could be wheelspin?

kensprin - 27/7/10 at 06:14 PM

Well i'm not sure i don't think its wheel spin, or at least i dont hear any screetching, you would think it will spin in 2nd but it dosnt.. its more of an slower acceleration sensation. I though it could be loss of traction very strange feeling in the higher gears.

Could just be a worn clutch. Ive got a new one....

Possibly fuel starvation.
