Hi, I have replaced the mechanical fuel pump with an electric low pressure one on a 2.0l pinto. I have a standard 32/36 weber fitted. Do I need a pressure regulator as fitted to the sierra ? Do I need a fuel return to the tank ? The sender in the tank has two pipes.

You only need a return if the carb has one
Mechanical pump is rising rate as its driven off the auxiliary drive so goes faster as revs rise
Electric pump delivers full rate from startup, I think a Filter King regulator is a wise move or the pump may defeat the float valve in the carb

Thanks for the info. I don't think the carb has a return. I believe the return was from the old style pressure regulator.

If the electric pump is an interrupter, i.e. stops pumping when the float bowl is full and the needle valve shuts off, you most certainly should not use a return, otherwise the pump will never stop and burn itself out.

The pump is on constant.

I have 2 electric pumps, cube lift pump to swirl pot and silver top to pressure regulator
The cube runs constantly as the swirl pot drains back to the tank
It won't burn out.

Definitely put a regulator on to stop the pressure over coming the float valve and over fuelling.
