Hi all

Hope everyone is finally enjoying the weather in their cars!

I'm looking to make a new silencer for mine (GSXR 1000 Tiger Avon) as it is way too loud.

The current design is a straight through perforated tube with fibreglass wool inside and I don't think it is absorbing much sound.

I can make the silencer longer (as I'm going to remove the cat now the IVA is done) but I was wondering about putting a restrictor half way through the perf tube to force the gas into the wool. Does anyone have any advice on making a silencer? I'm thinking that if I remove the cat a bit of back pressure from a restrictor wouldn't make much difference?

Also does anyone know of a place I can buy 6" or 7" stainless tube and/or spun end caps from?

Cheers

Ben

Simpson sell all parts in kit form. Not the cheapest but quality stuff.

Had my hole system made by Matt and his team, can't rate them highly enough, never have noise issues on track, and made good power gains.

I've found this one useful

They have a web site as well. They sell universal parts that can make up an exhaust system. I bought a weld in 6" x 24" stainless silencer and used it to build my system, very quiet and good bit of kit that cost about £50
