Type-E 4-Speed transmission, release bearing and clutch fork failed!

Hi,

I have a four speed type-e transmission with an adaptor bellhousing.

I had problems engaging the clutch and after I removed the transmission I noticed that both the clutch bearing and the clutch fork arm are damaged (see pictures). The clutch is engaged with a cable not via hydraulics.

The release bearing moves in a very strange way on the carrier as it is disintegrated.

I assume these parts failed because the tab/nose of the fixture ring of the release bearing carrier broke.

These items were installed by the previous owner and not by me.

Now I am wondering why these parts have failed? Is this kind of damage common?

Or was a wrong release bearing and carrier installed in the first place?

I noticed that my release bearing looks a bit different compared to the "usual release bearing" for this application.

Or do I have and require a non standard bearing due to the adaptor bellhousing?

Do I currently have the "HD3259" bearing installed?

Usual release bearing?

That failed release bearing looks wrong for the clutch fork, and would guess someone broke guide out so it would fit over the projection in the fork.

Assuming the broken bit of bearing mirrors what is already there it would seem to have two recesses, which would no way fit your fork....

looks more like the bearing just wasn't fitted properly or became partialy unclipped when the engine and box were mated.
