C20xe to ford box, with a twist...

Been away for a while but I'm back with another project. This time fwd! Now I don't really know where to ask as most places just tell me to do what everyone else does and don't seem to want to ventre out. So here's the crack, I have a mk1 fiesta and it's little 1.0 has seen much better days. I was going to zetec it but I have a complete c20xe laying about and fancy having a shot at that. The main issue is what gearbox to run, Ford or vaux. Im leaning toward's ford although their boxes arnt as great as vauxhall ones from my experience it'll mean I can use factory mounts, cables, speedo ect and more importantly shafts! I know there are loads of off the shelf bell housings for rwd but what would be ideal would be a sandwich plate as itd allow me to mate the two together. Do we think this is the best approach or perhaps having custom shafts made and all the other fabrication to go with? Cheers guys I'm sure someone will know! Oh and as for making mounts I don't mind that as I'd have to do that for a zetec anyway

If you're going for a VX motor, it makes sense to use the VX 'box too. Drive shafts are easier to make than adaptor plates and then faffing about with mix and match clutches.

F20 is a heavy but superb and bullet proof box. Would have one in any car and be happy.

Vauxhall gearbox, Nova/Corsa owners have been doing it for years. Why over complicate it, just get some custom driveshafts made.

Fair enough, I'll have to look into having some shafts made witch is new territory for me witch i's why I was leaning away from that option. I take it any machine shop should be able to knock up a set or is it a bit more specialised than that?
