Just about to do mine - is it recommended to carefully mask off the handbrake spring mechanism and the rubber/plastic fittings or should I just paint the lot?

You can usually pull the plastic tubes off. Leave the piston boot alone and mask that off. Just clean the spring well and paint it. Funnily enough I'm doing the front calipers on my car tonight though may just do the carrier's first. Painting them blue

Remove (or at least carefully mask) any bits you don't want to get paint on.

From experience paint doesn't stick well at all to rubber parts and if they're moving parts the paint will come off anyway and leave the rubber part looking worse.

Well, after several hours with wire brushes and dremel,
then white spirit and panel wipe, I've just started with the spraying. On the paint can it says to bake for 1hour at 93 deg c once the paint is fully dry.

How's my rubber seals likely to get on with that?!

I just used the paint from halfords, just paint on as normal with various brushes, used it before and it lasts a very long time

Well, they seemed to hold up okay in the oven and look okay from a distance but I'm not hugely impressed by the VHT caliper paint from Frost. It has already chipped off very easily where I've given a part a little knock. I thought it would be tougher than that. ..

Will try Halfords stuff next time!
