Duratec - oil temperatures 125-130°C on track

All,

My Duratec powered Sylva Riot is seeing oil temperatures of 125-130°C when on track, with water temperatures of 95-100°C.

I'm running the largest Mocol Laminova heat exchanger.

Two questions:
1 - does anyone else see these kind of temperatures when on track?
2 - if anyone runs an oil cooler (rather than a heat exchanger) what size do you run and what range of oil / water temperatures do you see on track?

Oil temp is usually 10 degrees C higher than water so if the temp difference is higher than 10 degrees your oil cooler setup is just not up to the job
I would say with water temps at 95 to 100 dogs C there is not enough cooling capacity in the water system/radiator.
There are many ways to help cooling, no 1 solution.
Getting hot air out helps, ducting cool air through the radiators, another, using an earlier opening thermostat, ultimately if you cooling the oil and the water through 1 radiator you need one with more cores and better airflow.
A separate oil cooler radiator will take some strain off the water system and fitting a large one perhaps 19 core with an oil thermostat would be a good call

My Duratec runs water temps like that on the road, Caterham states 110 as normal for water.

Thanks for all the replies.

I have bought some Lotus Exige / Elise side vents to try and get some air movement around the engine.

I'll put some ducting around the radiator to channel the air flow through the rad too.

What do you as a grille, if you are using one of those punched hole sheets or those fancy sheets with a stamped 7, get rid of it. A wire mesh, wire with wide open spaces is ideal, look at something like on a shopping trolley.

Wide open wire mesh grille.

Don't think that air flow is an issue but I'll block off the areas around the radiator to ensure all air is pushed through the rad.

I ditched an exchange and went for a oil cooler when I had high oil temps, I tried everything.

It turned out my oil temp sender went wonky. I replaced that and all was fine.

Just a thought

ISTR the standard duratec stat is 102C. You can buy lower ones.

I should have said previously, the car does not run a thermostat or bypass line as it's a track car.
