Peugeot Mi16 engine?

Has anyone ever tried fitting a Peugeot Mi16 engine in a 7 style car? Do they fit?

They produce 160bhp in standard tune and I've heard only good things about them, are they a feasible alternative to Zetec etc?

A Rover (v8) manual 'box with the bell housing from an LDV pilot van is what you're after

Thanks for the help guys. The reason I asked in the first place was because I'd seen the article on pumaracing too and a mate of mine is currently transplanting an Mi16 from a BX into his 205.

It does look like a really nice engine but I think I'm gonna leave it for now, I don't know a huge amount about engines and i've already got the exhaust etc for the pinto. Maybe at a later date though...

It had the PSA 1.9 diesel, thats why the bellhousing fits the Citroen motor

Any more pictures?

Guys,

Sorry to bring this old tread back up, but does anyone have more pictures from the XU engined se7en Dave put up earlier?

I'd love to swap my pinto for a decent (=all alloy) engine later on, and the 8valve XU is (imho) very, very good....

I am intending to use the 16v engine in my Velocity. I have been humming and hawing about it a lot in the last couple of days 'cos the car came with a 2 litre Zetec fitted but I am determined to use the all alloy wonder instead. I've asked SHerpa spares to give me a price on a bellhousing or, if it isn't a separate component and gearbox from an LDV 200 Pilot so I can make some sort of adaptor to bolt the Cit engine to the MT75 I have. I'd rather not use the LT77 tranny from the van as it is reputed to be rather agricultural in change quality and effing heavy, which rather negates the value of using such a light engine in the first place. I will keep you posted as to my progress.

The LDV Convoy uses an MT75 gearbox.

What about the 5-speed from the Peugeot 505? Did it use the same 2-ltr engine? Or did they change the bolt pattern for the FWD cars?

AFAIK the 505 used the same engines as the citroen CX (wonderfull cars, just don't get near them holding a spanner ;-)). Those are definitaly different then the "modern" XU's

Have been told by a Pug guru that a 505 BA10 gear box will bolt up to a MI16 bell housing, can't vouch for it but it would be worth investigating, certainly be a great engine in a clubby

Unfortunately, the last time I saw a 505 in a scrappie was in about 1990! Other than that, good idea
