alternator on zetec engine
can you use the standard alternator on a zetec, the only reason i ask is the three wires on the multiplug (i am guessing, charge warning light, live from
ignition, starter loop) are on the small side perticaly the starter loop

As long as you can get it to fit in the confined space and without fouling the steerinf, the manifold the water pum theres no reson you cant use it.
The wiring was sufficient in the car it came from so shouldnt be a problem in a 7 type
Life is like a bowl of fruit, funny how all the weird looking ones are left alone

Probably not, most but the very earliest use the ECU to regulate the output.
Get yourself up the scrappy for one off a Micra...

^^^ 3 pin one is ecu controled, I am still looking into if it can be used with out ecu.
Early silver tops had the more bassic design if it fits the bracket ?

it is the three pin plug that concerns me.the alternator fits just (the rear lug clears the inlet manifold by 2 or 3 mm)but just looking at the wiring
i doubt the load on the alternator/starter loop wire will be big enough

i now have a micra alternator from a t reg car
it has 2 connections 1 marked B+ and the other D+
unfortunately the starter had been taken off before i got to the car so i haven't seen all the connections
the B+ is the larger of the 2 and had a thick white/red wire going to it (nissan wiring),i think this would be the loop wire back to the starter and
also needs the main battery cable connecting to it
the D+ had a thin yellow/red wire (again nissan wiring) is this a charge warning light or a switched ignition live
can someone confirm this or if i am talking rubbish point me in the right direction
cheers stew.

Any updates on weather the micra altenator works?
Does it mount on to the zetec engine easily enough?
Any more information?
Thanks

the B+ is the larger of the 2 and goes back to the starter solenoid i.e. is connected to the battery positive terminal.
the D+ is a charge warning light. connects to bulb, other end of bulb to igniton live.
confirmed.
