Hey Bob, I see what you mean...

"That's still the shorter way- but he went left at that roundabout. The shorter way is straight on and down to the A3 that way."

So, is the shorter way left at the roundabout or straight on??

never mind James, It'll get to us all in the end!

shit happens! (but why always to me!!)

shorter way to a3 is straight over roundabout then right at next roundabout, then left at following one, past sainsburys, over bridge and imediatley right onto a3 sliproad(traffic lights) , mind you this is north bound only route. For southbound have to go towards town centre, past diy /superstores stores (follow portsmouth/a3 signs obviously)

see you all there, no excuses for directions now....

Ned.

Right, once and for all:

Coming from London down the A3:

Come off at the Burpham turn off.

At roundabout: straight on
At roundabout (next to Sainsbury's) 1st exit
At roundabout (next to BP garage) 1st exit.

Straight over next two roundabouts.

2nd exit on next roundabout- leading onto Trodds Lane.

About 1.5 miles later turn right at top of Trodds Lane.

Newlands is on the left.

There is a map:
http://forum.locostbuilders.co.uk/xmb/photos/cgi-bin/showpic.pl?newlands_map-large.jpg

This includes the speed camera (circled in red) that is outside the infant school. The limit is 30mph- if you do 48mph then you will get clocked although possibly this will happen at a lower speed. Who knows. I'll get there early and flag you down as you drive past if you like!

Good Luck- I know it's a difficult journey!

Cheers,

James

Larfing even louder

no buggery bollox to that

Thats like running 6 miles when you can walk 2.

After crossing M25 leave at next junction for Ockham on the B2039 and head for East horsley, turn right onto the A246 through East Clandon then turn left onto the A25 at x roads up the hill and your there.

Just keep yer speed down and everyones happy.

I thought that was a "shape" thing, although to be fair you don't have the hole in the middle.

Does anyone who's going to be at Newlands know what a 'good' polished and ported head looks like?

I only ask as I'm picking up a head on saturday (is worth the price for cams +vernier pulleys alone) but says it has been polished/ported aswell.

Anybody?

Ned.

On the inlet tracts you shouldnt see any burrs or casting marks. It may be polished to a mirror finish but if it is then get out some 400 grit paper and give it a roughening up this is a way of producing a nice boundary layer for smooth airflow. Also where the tract split to the valves there should be a rounded edge not sharp. And the valve guides should (very hard to achieve so not always done) be teardrop shaped. Mainly just check that the inside walls are smooth and there are no sharp lines and edges. The amount of money a person spends will be proportional to the amount of effort put in by the tuner, its not just a simple 'polish and port' and thats your job. There are varying degrees of how much HP the head can flow.

Another event clash!

I'm sure you'll all be disappointed to know I won't be able to go.

Unfortunately I've got an open kickboxing competition in Aldershot the same day that starts at 10 so unless we meet at 9am I won't really be able to make it.

For LeMans cars took priority so I missed the European championships (at which my girlfriend got a silver medal- Grrrrr- not that we're competitive at all!) so this time kickboxing wins and car have to suffer!

Oh well, wish me luck!

Cheers,

James

Dissappointed not to be there actually. The first one where we've actually got a bunch of cars turning up and I'm not there!
