Spain, France and Alps Road Trip

Ok this thred is for anyone insterested in coming on a road trip to Spain and the French Alps in 2009. All are welcome in cars (tintops or kits) or bikes.

The dates are Sunday 26th July to Saturday 8th August.

We would leave from Plymouth via Brittany Ferries to Santander in northern Spain. The cost from their website is £342 for a car + 1 passenger or £349 for a car + 2 passengers.

The journey details haven't been planned yet as this will happen depending on numbers, but it would essentially be:

Drive along spanish coast into france. hrough Tolouse, Nimes and across to the Col De Turini (voted best driving road on Top Gear).

Drive back along coast then head north to cross the Millau Viaduct on the A75.

Head north cross country to Troyes then on to Calais to get the Tunnel back to England.

Here is a Map of the rough route

Accomodation would mainly be camping and/or B&B depending on peoples preferences.

Timings of stops etc are up to those who want to come.

Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers,
David

Obviously the journey is more broken up than that Specific stops havent been decided, and if people have preferences or suggestions then they can be included.

The ferry trip is about 24 hours, so you get a nice kip on the way over too

I'm camping in France that first week watching the last mountain stage of the Tour de France up mount Ventou. So may join you for a day if your itinary goes anywhere nearby.

A mates going in his van so my kit and bike is going in that and I'm going in the Fury.

ps. check the 'Tour route. You don't want to plan something and then find that road is closed on the day.

I think a 6yr old, 4 yr old and 18 month old might be a bit of a squeeze in an Indy!

Ha. I have distinct memories of a bed that is lower at both ends some how, and whichever way you turn you feel sick I think the damned boat was rocking to keep my feet above me head!
