Topic Suggestion
Having just read Donut's post on his test and sympathising with him that he came so close to a first time pass I wondered if it would be a
useful resource to have a topic devoted to the reasons people have failed their SVA test. Over time this could become a good 'aide
memoire' for others presenting cars for inspection. After all we could all benefit from the experiences of others at this rather stressful
time.
How about it Chris?

that would be an absolutely fantastic resource. I bet it would cut down on SVA failures big time!
It would allow ppl to address popular fail points during their build and not at the test centre!

Excellent idea. Would this be a thread in the "SVA/Legal" area or would we want another area???
Certainly would help reduce failure rates!

Who is this super hero? Sarge? ...No.
Rosemary, the telephone operator? ...No.
Penry, the mild-mannered janitor? ...Could be!

Great idea, but, I think it would need to be an updatable spreadsheet. That way, it would not get diluted by off topic threads etc etc.

Its an ideal candidate for the wiki that Chris was looking into.
Chris, any news with that?

As I wrote in the website problems section, I'm a little worried if people will use it. Can I have a show of hands please??

What's a wiki?
If it's one o' them french stand up toilets then I won't be using it.
Cheers
Chris
Note to all: I really don't know when to leave well alone. I tried to get clever with the mods, then when they gave me a lifeline to see the
error of my ways, I tried to incite more trouble via u2u. So now I'm banned, never to return again. They should have done it years ago!

I'm nearly at that stage
Would be extremely useful if we had a resource such as this, common faults would then be a thing of the past. I would certainly use it.

Bung the wiki up and see if people use it
sounds like a great idea to me. I'd bung one up myself but it would be better on this site that everyone comes to already.

Why? Do you have to use the sit-down toilets?

I'm not sure how a WIKI works or even what it is but to expand a little on my initial thoughts,
The 'topic' (is that the right term?), would be more of a list, each entry listing reasons for failing the test, where the test was
carried out and any points raised during the test by the examiner etc. I don't think it should become a general discussion area as this would
tend to dilute the information. Points provoking further discusion could be continued in their appropriate area.
Please don't think I'm trying to tell Chris how to do his bit, these are just the thoughts of an IT imbecile.
Mick
I think I really mean a new forum and not topic, is that the right terminology ?

A wiki is a kind of freeform web information thingy that anyone (depending how you set it up) can edit. It remembers what was done so if someone comes
in and maliciously trashes it you can roll it back to when it was good. I think there are various more complicated access and version controls too.
It's often used for things like FAQs, people put up questions and others can answer them or edit / refine / add to the answers.
I think it would be an excellent way of storing lots of those useful locost tidbits that get lost in the forum archives; all the book errors, cymtriks
mods, links to jim mcsorley's stuff, etc etc.

That's not really in the spirit of a good wiki. The idea is you get a good information source with high signal to noise ratio, not a load of
people filling it up with bollocks.
