Fingers crossed, im getting a bike engine fitted to my westfield in the next 4/8 weeks.

Just interested to hear where you guys buy your engines.

First one came from eBay. A bit of an argument ensued resulting in me getting the maximum £130 rebate from ebay for it not being as described.

The second one came from Malc. A top bloke, most recommended.

There's this bloke what sells loads of engines....... Mick, no er Marv, er no that's not right.....Malc, that's the fella. I think he may have been mentioned before

Joking aside he's a top bloke, very knowledgable and helpful. You might pay a bit more than the average Ebay find but all his units are low mileage and he will be able to tell you where their from, chassis number etc.

We both know what you managed with one of these old lumps.
We also both know that it will be more than enough for 1)my modest talents 2)my back axle.

P.S. You wouldn't have a fuel pump looking for a home would you ?

I bought my first one for an eye-watering £750 from STM cos they'd stockpiled all the ST engines in Nottingham at the time and I was building my car in their garage and it was just TOO easy....

The second I bought off Ebay for £250 but I'm not sure what kind of condition it's in.... At the moment it's used to measure up stuff for the EFI conversion and it's always there (hopefully) incase I kill my first one with too much boost or an over-exuberant red-line adjustment when I've installed the ECU. I know a ST engine can take more than 8500rpm- it's just question of how much more!!!

Plan A =

1) gradually increase red-line until engine goes pop
2) set redline for engine #2 at 500rpm less than that
3) cross fingers

Can't personally see a way of doing it any other way with any mechanical sympathy....

AB Performance.

They stock all the bits to get it fitted and if your lazy like me they will fit it as well.

I went to AB Performance a couple of weeks ago, never seen so many Blade engines and bits in one place.....

I HAVEN'T used Malc., but I hear good things.

What do I do - I buy the whole bike. Normally from an actual salvage auction, where you see the thing and can often start it (if the forks aren't where the crankcase should be). A blood-covered early GSXR isn't too costly, remember you also get all the bits to make it run (loom, pump, etc.). Even the radiators survive a major crash sometimes. Depending on your car, you may also be able to utilise brakes, etc.....
Do remember (however) that the bike may have run on its side (despite the tilt switch) so keep an eye out for starvation damage.
