LOL........ although every ski lift I have been on, it's has been the responsibility of the skiers to pull down and lift up the safety bar........ dumb ass

Sounds like it was that actual seat that was missing, not the saety bar.
- Hence seat came up behind him, he fell through it, fell off, lost trousers, and dignity. But didnt fall and break his neck.
