Holiday outside EU

Looking at a family holiday outside the EU this summer but can't decide which country. I had considered Goa but their main season is November to April.

America doesn't really appeal to me as a holiday destination, so apart from that, any suggestions?............................

Phil

The mental gymnastics a landlord will employ to justify immoral actions is clinically fascinating. Just because something is legal doesn't make it moral.

Now about Mauritius?

Well, I'm with ya on the America bit but some friends have just come back from Miami and they said it was brilliant, and with the cheap prices to go there atm.... I'm tempted.

Cheapish flights now to Oz as well with Emirates. I'm just worried I'll go there and be homesick when I come back!

Failing that its a canal boat holiday for us this year.

Turkey. Very nice the times I have been there.

Or further afield, Kenya was beautiful. I'd love to go back....

Depends on what sort of holiday you like I suppose.

One place I really want to go is New Zealand, some amazing scenery there.

I'm off to south east asia again on friday for a month with my fiance Amazing place. Probably not for a family holiday though, unless the kids love shopping, sightseeing and awesome but strange food!

If I were you I would consider somewhere like Egypt. Very nice and educational too!

South Africa

Cape Town is cool, has sea, beaches, shopping etc. Plus all the tourist attractions, Table Mountain, the Cape, the Kirstenbosch Gardens etc.

Then head over the Garden Route to Knysna.

Vietnam???

Been to Kiev, great city, great people. Not sure it would make a good family holiday though. Architecture is fantastic too. Also quite fancy Moscow and St Petersburg.

South Africa...Brother in law spent a few years there for work and went back recently, (3 years ago), said that he wouldnt go again. The guide they had to show them around and keep em safe had had his throat cut and was lucky to be alive. The other three room mates never made it.

Loved Australia and would love to go back. Want to see New Zealand as well, all the people I know that have been there have never been dissapointed.

Another vote for Turkey, but be warned very very hot in the sumer, another place I like is Bulgaria, although now in the EU its cheap in comparison with other EU countrys,I take it thats the main reason your looking outside the EU Phil because of the strong Euro
What Ive just done to counter this a bit,is booked a all inclusive to lanzarote, pick a quality hotel with good reviews for food,so then hopefully all we will need is a bit of spending money.

I've been to South Africa twice and loved it. Once was with work. June there was like August here. The other time was probably July and the weather was still better than a British summer. One guy came up to me and said "You can feel a nip in the air now can't you?" I was in shorts and a tee shirt and looking for the shade.

Edit: The food is unbelievably good too, especially the steak. They take it very seriously.

If SA takes your fancy but you're a bit worried about the place, go to Botswana instead. Really under-rated place, it's got some amazing scenery and wildlife, most people head to Maun and the Okovango. Gaborone is a bit on the dull side, but you can head a bit out of town, it's only a couple of hours to get over the border into SA and the big game reserve there. Much much safer than all of it's neighbours at the moment, they've had a quiet but stable economy ever since we gave it back (by 'utter coincidence' some of the worlds largest diamond mines were discovered there the year after independence ).

Zimbabwe is/was stunning, shame it's a no go area these days

how about a cruise around the caribean, that way you get to visit four or five different places & travel in luxury with first class service, cruises are not too pompus anymore, i,ve done four cruises & enjoyed every one of them, some cruise lines do the all inclusive deal too.

Been looking at Egypt Jon, beaches for the mrs and educational for the kids too. Must admit though, Croatia sounds quite intruiging. I've heard good things about it. Anybody been?
