Last night I built a single seater.

It's a traditional space framed single seater. A mix of square and round tubes, it mamanges to look quite dainty but is large enough to fit a 6 footer with ease.
I used my spare ZX10 engine onto a chain driven diff.
Bodywork was built from wooden bucks and is styled like a mix between an OMS 2000M and a 1980s Formula Ford - Van Diemen RF86, Reynard SF86, that kind of thing. Even though I preffered the look of Swifts from that era, although the Reynard roll hoop was always a cool looking structure.
Wheels are 13" Revolutions.

It is painted red with a yellow nose cone and has aluminium wings front and rear.

And then I woke up......

I have never been so unhappy to awake from a dream in my whole life.

I need to draw this now while I can still remember it.

If there was a USB port on the side of my head, I would be flooding this thread with pictures.

Is this one going to be red too ?

Anyway, I said 80s FF, not 70s.

(And that's not a dig, honest )

Well if you want to build a Swift single seater BEC with chain drive then let me know!

Swift Rolling CHassis

It's not the same spec as the advert but the price is much reduced!

Regards

Wyn

I probably wouldn't fit Wynn.

The only single seater I have ever driven was a Van Diemen RF84 and getting out was a mega struggle. That was an old fashioned single seater and the more modern ones are even tighter.

Then there's the (perfectly reasonable) asking price.

I can just about afford some 16swg tube and some CO2 just now.

I must concentrate my efforts on this Sylva, then when it's finished and if I can persuade someone to give my the space to keep it in, we can see about a new project. Otherwise, this is all just talk.

Still like the Swift though. Those must be the largest NACA ducts ever created.

I have the bodywork for it sitting in my back garden! 3 different versions of the Hawke DL19.
& single seaters don't have to be hard to get in & out of, the Furore will get a 6' 4 or 5" 18 stoner in & out of the front seat!

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

It is a very tight fit! I can't get in it with anything other than race boots or no shoes at all!

Thd duct is Radical btw. When we made the new rear body it was easier to use an existing mould for this.

Tell me more about this Hawke bodywork.
But don't, whatever you do, tell Mr Westgarage about it, or he'll want it off you too.

Is it for sale, or is soemthing you're keeping ? Might be (interested, that's all).

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I'll have you know that the RP29 is a 1981 car
I think it will be painted white (although this was the colour of the RP26 which met its end at Doune on its first outing....)

Sorry chaps, can't help on the sidepods (unless you fancy some Furore ones). The bodywork is one one piece body which goes as as far as the roll bar, I think both of the others IIRC are 3 piece sets, nose, centre & engine cover, one has a chisel nose & one has a pointy nose.

Bit too eerily prescient this thread with Amazon leaking the new Haynes plans.
