Oh. Dear.
Some of the peterborough folks know the story behind this, but here is the full set of piccies... After developing a loud rattle, this occurred in the
middle of Melton as Steve was returning the car to the workshop for a look-see. I think it's terminal
That bit shouldn't be there...
Took out the starter too...
A collection of bits. Spot the sparky that was in no.3...
And this is what fell out of the sump:
Its a bit bent... Soon to be mounted on a commemorative plinth!

I think I can see where the problem was....
That watch should never have managed to get inside the engine.
Seriously though, bad luck.
Cock off or cock on. You choose.

Nah. Thats what trying to throw a rod looks like. When you do the jod properlike you get bits through both sides of the block, the sump AND through
the head so that the ONLY usable part is the old rocker cover on a Xflow. (7500 rpm along a newly opened M27, west bound towards southampton, in a
fully laden Mk2 cortina estate, chasing down a fiat 131 twinc. BIG bang LOTS of smoke, Dad NOT impressed.)
Just a lot more expensive these days.
Enjoy.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Yeah Jolly, words will be had about the apparent lack of effort on this one. I expected at least a bent crank... was only 2000rpm though, so you have
to make allowances!

Now we see the importance of torque settings.
Sorry mate, it's f*%ked. I do like the edging trim on the mount so you don't scrape your fingers while poking them into the block
though.
yours, Pete.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Nah, snot that bad.
Weld a bit of plate over the hole in side of block, bit of glue on conrod, and you''ll be right as rain guv'na
Sorry for your bad luck - still, now gives you the opportunity to replace it with a proper engine - one with another 4 cylinders or you could drop
in a bike motor!

I must admit that if that was my engine, I'd say a fair bit more than "Oh, Dear".
Condolences - so what you putting in next?

We're actually going to put in the same lump... Mainly because the car originally had a xflow when it went through SVA, and we had a good year
with it like that, then we spent the last few months converting everything to take the 4AGE- wiring, gearbox, mounts, plumbing etc etc. After a couple
of hundred miles, we aint starting over again, so a new 4AGE is to be located. Its just been MOT'd and new insurance/tax, so spending a few
months converting to a bike engine isn't gonna happen!!
