Taxing a car
Hi
I have just bought a part exhange from the garage I work at.
To cut a long story short, a guy who I work with was going to buy it, he paid the money and filled out the green "new keepers supplement".
The garage I work fo lost the rest of the v5 shortly after.
My work colleague then decided he didn't want the car, so gave it them back along with he supplement he filled it.
I have now bought it and want to tax it. Can I tippex his details out of the boxes and replace with mine, or is this teason!? Or can i just take the
green slip with his details on and my insurance note and mot to the post office to tax it with??
I know I will most likey have to pay for a logbook replacement, but I would like to tax the car this weekend if poss!

You can tax it even though it's been filled out with someone else's details. I taxed my KC this way at the Post Office. I had exactly the
same documents you had and it was no issue.
I was in a similar situation except the DVLA had kindly lost the rest of my documents for me....

hate to be the bearer of bad news.had a similar problem with my sons new moped.if the vehicle isnt taxed the post office wont tax it on the green slip
you need the v5.a case of computer says no.either that or my local po were being extremely awkward.although if you have the tax renewal form youll be
ok .

Right, so I take it nothing will go to the address on the supplement?
Its thats right, then its just a case of filling out a v62 for a new logbook after ive taxed it?

I'd take it all into the PO and see what they say, as I said I had no real issue (Salisbury PO)
I have since filled out a V62 to sort out the V5 back into my name but surprisingly have still not heard from the DVLA....
