Fan relay?
Hey all,
Just starting to gather bits together for the electronic side of things and I noticed there doesn't seem to be a fan relay on a sierra.
The wiring goes:
Battery positive --> S102 (via Fuse Link Wire)
S102 --> Fan Motor (via Bk wire)
Fan Motor -> Fan Switch (via Bn/Bk wire)
Fan Switch --> Ground (via Bn wire)
I would assume that the current drawn by the fan would require a relay. So my question is really: is the fan switch (thermal i presume) able to take
the current?
Its a 1989 1.8 cvh sierra if that helps.
Thanks,
Chris

Short answer...Yes.
It's the fan switch and Ford made it to take the load of, guess what...a fan!

Yep mine runs without a relay as it did in the sierra.
I was going to add a relay anyway but on testing the fan it only draws 7A so I didnt bother.

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Sorry mate, but someone was going to say it so I thought I'd get in first.

hmm, what thread is on the ford fan switch? my fan draws 5A (nearly 7A on start up for about 1 second) whould be a lot easier than wiring in relays
and stuff
