Major electrical interference....

Hi guys..

There is an old dear who lives 2 doors away from me who kindly pointed out that everytime I start my locost up it knocks her tv signal out lol. She is the only person in our street who uses freeview and not sky.

I don't think shes making it up to be funny as her husband has always popped over and and had a chat when ive been working on it and seems really nice!

From what she said it seems to happen before i start the car up, just when i put the ignition on.

Any ideas what could be wrong or is there some gadget i can buy to stop it happening?

Thanks
Shaun

Electronic ignition?
Put it inside a metal case?

I don't know anything about this bestek, but either sheild it or wrap the wiring to it around some ferrite rings (maplins).
It sounds like it is emitting radio waves on the same frequency as the TV.
Probably not a problem on a tintop, but on a fibreglass car it is.

Had a similar problem in my Astra, I couldn't get medium wave on my radio unless the engine was off. Various people blamed the alternator although whether it was that I don't know

Fuel pump? Could also be the ignition circuit having a bit of a "wake-up" session...

Either shield it (some sort of metal cover) or stop it happening in the first place (add a supressor).

Long live RWD...
