RWD Focus

Just thought I would canvas opinion on here.........

What do you lot think the demand might be for such a thing, in either plain Rwd form, with cosworth running gear ( turbo duratec possible more modern alternative engine) or 4x4 form with cossie 4x4 running gear.

Aim would be road car, with full interior and same interior space as standard.

I think it would make an interesting reshell for some tired sierras..................

those in the know know why I am asking

does sound like a lot of fun.
don't know if you'd sell many though. especially with standard interior. i think if it looks like a race car, stripped out, lowered etc, then yes

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Yep, mint, Ford fans have been asking for one for ages. There's always an expectation the next new RS model will be 4 or rwd.

Saw a Capri shell grafted onto a Sierra 4x4 floorpan a while back and with Ford using a Sierra floorpan for Escort Cossie its a popular retro mod with the FastFord boys.

Was thinking of cutting a Sierra front floor and tunnel into a Saxo myself to create a zetec powered rwd chav killer...

Theres a good few been done already.

Andrew Gallagher Motorsport in Scotland have a set of jigs for doing them and were charging 1500 quid to convert a mk1 shell to accept 4x4 running gear iirc

Hi

4x4 only if going to use properly setup diffs rather than Std ford items but getting expensive. Or just go RWD less hassle - lighter weight - more fun.

Cheers Matt

current shape focus with all the rs looking bits and then either turbo duratec or the volvo 5 with cossie 4x4 would sell to the few hard core fellas that really want a 4x4 rs focus. however people may look down there noses at 20 yearold running gear...

ahh interesting.....

I knew they did them but the only ones I have seen were spaceframes. People gulp a bit at the costs then!!

Says two things, yep there's a market, but its already busier than I'd like!!

Andy did a mk2 on a steel shell for racing which was white and is now blue and owned by charlie shaw.

After that he did his, which uses ford steel a pillars and door frames, carbon roof, doors, boot, bonnet, spoilers, bumpers, wings and quater panels.... The front end is a spaceframe. weights 1100kg dripping wet and has 800bhp.

He has jogs for doing 4x4 mk1 focuses and Im sure the deal was you supply the shell and they would do the rest for 1500 which isnt bad, and probably quite profitable once youve got the jig. He did a transit connect shell too.

1500 is extremely cheap, would need to see what you get for that..........(certainly won't have any paint on it, and 1500 won't even buy the metal for a decent cage! )

I would want a LOT more than that, but then I would not be doing quite the same thing..........

Hopefully will be picking up a shell in the next couple of days from a frendly ford dealer!
