Hot Exhausts and Bare legs...
Well, after finishing the striping up of my 7 I decided to go for a blat to show it off. After getting the exhaust about as hot as it gets I then
touched it with my bare leg, accidently of course. Next comes lots of swearing and the smell of burnt hair/flesh. I wouldn't recommend it. Looks
good though eh? The car, not my leg!

uncanny!
just goes to show the SVA can be an arse - the exposed exhaust can burn legs yet the test is more concerned about some minor jaggy points in the track
rods
BTW - an 1 mm alloy sheet drilled with holes attached usingt jubilee clip will prevent that happening again.

Yow!
That's gonna smart.
Get it treated properly, just because it's not bleeding doesn't mean it isn't a serious injury. Burns can and do turn nasty.
When I took the Indy into the local garage to get the emissions checked, the owner called all the young lads around and said watch this.
As he leant over the carbs, there was a distinct smell of burning trouser! Then a very animated garage boss jumping around the garage screaming!

That's another advantage of the R1 carbon can - the outer surface remains remarkably cool and doesn't burn. Still hot to the touch but
gives plenty of time to remove the offending limb......
Can't say the same for the downpipe though, which is why I made a cover for mine....

A couple of months ago I was out of the car talking to a mate when her kid ran and jumped into the car despite me shouting no. He got his leg burned
and it turned nasty the next day at school and he ended up in casualty.
He`s ok now though and the damage should disappear within 12 months.
Good point about the sva/iva though eh?

Yep, did exactly the same thing 3 months ago and the scars are still visible. Don't believe anyone who says "you'll not do that
again" I did it twice in one day![](/images//smilies/bigsmile.gif)

I know it sounds mad, but DEEP HEAT really works on burns.

They were cut by Rivington Signs then I applied them today! They will apply them for you, but he
is a friend and did me a favour! Thanks though, really pleased with it and your comments are appreciated!
With regards to the burn and treating it, I kept it nice and cool and followed all the FA that has been drilled into me at work for the last 5 years!
I'll keep tabs on it though!

My daughter (then 3) burnt her leg on my old car about 18 months ago. Still has a nasty mark now. We had to take her to doctors to get it treat
properly. I get a lot of stick off the wife still for that.
