Ford Auto Bellhousing?

Anyone got a rwd autobox lying around? I would be interested to see if the bellhousing comes off, and if so, how deep it is compared to a manual bellhousing..

Anyone got one, or know where the knowledge can be found?

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

As above, He used a seirra auto I think.

I wouldn't have thought you could use an Auto Bellhousing with a manual box.

Hello!
Here's an A4LD and Type 9 side by side:
A4LD & T9 - 1
A4LD & T9 - 1

I'll have a closer look and maybe take a pic into the b/h later if I can find the camera...

Looking into the bell housing:
A4LD B-Hsg
A4LD B-Hsg

and there's a 3mm thick gasket thingy between the b/h and main case:
A4LD Gasket
A4LD Gasket

You'll want to know how deep the b/h is, won't you?

It's about 6 1/4" from the front face of b/h to the front of the gasket thingy. Type 9 cast iron b/h is about 7" total length.
Sounds to me like a possible way to a lightweight bellhousing for Type 9 with a bit of macining and a spacer?

Bear in mind that the starter motor lives on the other side on the auto - don't know if the auto starter is the same as manual or different.
A4LD & T9 - 2

Thanks for that John.

I have a Toyota Supra box I want to use and the auto bellhousing looks better to modify.

The shorter length gives me room for an adapter plate
