R1 Speed Sensor

Does anyone know if the Speed sensor is needed by the ECU in order to get an -99 4XV running properly?

Have you bridged out the hand clutch switch and the side stand switch?
These will prevent your engine from starting.
Also make sure the gears are in neutral otherwise the N switch will cause a non-start too.

Thanks for your help! And yes, I've shorted the clutch and the side stand. I've not yet tried to start the engine but thought I'd ask about the speed sensor before I cut it out of the loom.
