Duratec Bellhouse adaptor plate

I plan to convert from a Zetec to a Duratec this winter.
The bellhoses that ex Titan sells are far from Lo(w)cost. It starts from 200$ and then you need a flywheel for 200$ extra.

Has anyone made an adaptor plate or modified the type 9 bellhouse to suit the duratec bolt pattern?

How hard can it be?

Any adaptor plate will push the gearbox back by the thickness of the adaptor, possibly moving the spigot out of the spigot bearing and moving the clutch release bearing further away by the same amount.
This may be a good time to use a V6 Type 9 with a sandard bell housing giving you somewhere between 40mm and 70mm to play with.
The spacer used by Caterham that goes between the box and the bellhousing is 40mm wide, the input shaft on the V6 box is 70mm longer than the standard Type 9.

You could, make an adaptor plate with Duratec block pattern to Type 9 bell housing (standard not V6 bell housing), attach adaptor and bell housing to engine, mate up gearbox from the rear, measure any gap betwix bell housing rear face and gearbox, mill Caterham adaptor (or make your own) to required thickness.

Thanks for the question as that is what i will now do when I go the Duratec route.

Just a small correction, as I've just got mine, the Caterham spacer is 30mm deep.

Cheers

Is it this spacer you are talking about?
