Where to go 'testing' in north yorkshire

Hi all, just wondering if any knows of somewhere i can take the indy for a spin that is not on the road! can't afford a trackday just at the moment but would like to go and test some 0-60 times and what not with a couple of friends. When i was younger we used to go to Acaster Malbis airfield but now that has gone is there anywhere else?

Cheers

I recently spotted some guys on mini-motos on an old airfield near Poppleton. I stopped and asked them what the score was and they said they'd asked the farmer at the house on the edge of the airfield and he'd told them as long as they kept away from the gliding clubs airstrip, then there wouldn't be a problem. The gliding club was way in the distance but the strip ran across the airfield. I suppose a look on google earth would find it and then find the farmer or contact the gliding club??
The bit these guys were playing on was easily 1/2 mile long and 1/4mile wide. It had rough bits in the middle but there were enough smooth bits.

I used to play there as a kid, I still have a compass taken out of a crashed WW2 aircraft which we found in the brambles on the Chapel Fields side of the aerodrome. They used to have car racing there most summer sundays - when did all this finish?
