floating wire ring info wanted

hi i seen a program a few years ago where a guy had some wire formed into a ring he put a current into it and it floated, ive searched for info but cant find any, does anyone no what its name is or some links.

erm, really? i'm not convinced. i'd love to be corrected though

Intersting. There things that shouldnt work that do. Such as the ball bearing motor.

the thing i seen was just wire wraped around so many times with an high voltage put into it and it made it float about 4 inch.

MIT Linky thing

Bored so had a scour through the MIT lectures, not sure if it's the one you were referring too?
Not quite sure whats going on as the sound is terrible and turning it up made my speakers pop/click loudly..

Oh, 44mins in to save you hunting

I need a warmer garage so I can spend time more constructivly, hehe
